Honor of Kings: “the most played game in the world” will finally be exported from China

TiMi Studios’ game will be released outside of China under the Level Infinite label set up some time ago by Tencent. The Chinese phenomenon will begin its testing phase in several countries in July ahead of its global rollout later this year.

Considered the most played video game in the world on all platforms despite its Chinese exclusivity, Honor of Kings still had more than 145 million monthly active users in March 2022, according to figures from QuestMobile.

And this community knows how to be generous: according to estimates by Sensor Tower, Honor of Kings was the world’s highest-grossing mobile game in the first quarter of 2022, despite severe restrictions on playing time for minors in China.

To accompany this international launch with fanfare, TiMi Studios plans to organize an Honor of Kings Champions World Cup 2022 at the end of the year. 16 international teams will face off in this tournament and battle it out for a $10 million prize pool, although it will likely take early risers to compete with the Chinese teams who have known the game since 2015. In 2020, the final of this competition drew more than 570 million viewers, according to figures from the release.
