How the pricing table works

After Dyson, which has just lifted the veil on its Gen5 Detect, it’s Hoover’s turn to present its new spearhead, the HF9 with monocyclonic filtration. And if the first counts on a new engine which gains in power, the second prefers an approach based on balance. According to the manufacturer, the idea is to offer the best compromise between suction capacity and autonomy.

After 3 h 30 min of recharging, the HF9 would therefore be able to last 30 min at normal power level with an electrobrush connected. Note that this performance is not exceptional and that many stick vacuum cleaners already reach 30 minutes of operation on a single charge.

Hoover HF9

The Hoover HF9 can stand upright without any floor or wall base.

However, the HF9 has other advantages in its favor. It is, for example, one of the few stick vacuum cleaners on the market capable of standing on its own, without a wall base or to be placed on the floor, which those allergic to DIY will appreciate. Indeed, it is not necessary to take out the drill to install a charging base in order to store the HF9 when it is not in use. It was Hoover who was the first to perform this little tour de force on the original H-Free. This functionality has also evolved somewhat and it is possible to detach the suction tube from the head by pressing a simple pedal to avoid bending down.

Always to make life easier for the user, the manufacturer has provided the suction head with a comb system to prevent hair or long hair from getting tangled in the Anti-Twist system roller. If this should happen, it is accessed from above for more convenience. Finally, the suction head, still it, is equipped with a ramp of LEDs on the front to easily locate dust under furniture or on dark floors.

The control panel is very complete, since the digital display with segments (like that of clock radios) gives the user an estimate in minutes of the remaining autonomy: information much more telling than a trio of diodes or a percentage. Note that when recharging the battery (removable, moreover), it is a percentage that is indicated. Despite the automatic power which tries to strike the fairest balance between power and autonomy, the HF9 obviously includes a boost mode. A final button enables or disables the rotation of the brush inside the suction head.

The Hoover HF9 stick vacuum cleaner is already available in several more or less well-equipped versions. In addition to the textile brush and the long nozzle of the HF910H called Home, there is an electric minibrush for the HF910P (450 €), or Pet (470 €) version which is designed to remove pet hair from upholstery. Of course, this minibrush can be used even if the household does not welcome any of our four-legged friends.
