Hopium webinar with more than 400 registrants

Paris, April 29, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. – HOPIUM

is proud to announce the success of its 1

er

Webinar which brought together, on April 25, more than 200 investors, journalists and individual shareholders, and had a total of more than 400 registrants. On this occasion, Stéphane Rabatel, the new CEO of Hopium, returned to the strategic pivot operated by the company, its assets and expertise, which allowed it to develop a complete fuel cell system whose performance is 20% at 30% higher than the competition, as well as Hopium’s new roadmap for the development of high-power hydrogen solutions for heavy transport.

Hopium formalizes the carrying out of tests

on test benches (controlled environment) for the summer of 2024, and tests in real conditions (on a circuit) in the fall of 2024 and first commercializations from the beginning of 2025. To carry out this project , Hopium benefits from the support of its financial partner Atlas Special Opportunities, as part of the bond loan concluded on September 20, 2022 and amended in July 2023

and is already seeking new financing, to accelerate its future developments and structure the marketing of its solutions, from the start of 2025.

“I am delighted that this first meeting mobilized so many people, which demonstrates the continued interest in Hopium and its technology, despite the difficulties encountered. The active participation and positive feedback we received demonstrate the appetite for our innovative approach to heavy mobility. We wanted to present our strengths and our roadmap with clarity and conviction, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable energy solutions focused on hydrogen and offering promising prospects both environmentally and financially.

I am convinced that Hopium has all the assets to succeed in this new challenge. As we have said, we wish to maintain regular and transparent dialogue with our shareholders in order to restore trust and keep them informed of the various advances in our roadmap. We are determined to leverage this positive momentum to achieve our strategic objectives.

I would like to thank once again all our employees, our partners and our shareholders for their support and commitment. Together, we have the opportunity to transform the heavy transport landscape and contribute significantly to a low-carbon and more sustainable future. »

Stéphane Rabatel, CEO of Hopium.

A technology that does not leave you indifferent

During this presentation, Stéphane Rabatel returned to the origins of Hopium, the very strong interest of several manufacturers in the hydrogen fuel cell of the Machina during the presentation of the car at the Paris Motor Show in October 2022 This event was the starting point for Hopium’s repositioning in fuel cell manufacturing. Initially, the aim was to generate turnover more quickly to overcome the financing problems encountered for the development of the Machina. Atlas Special Opportunities, the company’s financial partner since September 2022, supported this initiative. The arrival of Stéphane Rabatel to the management of Hopium will definitively mark this repositioning, by abandoning the Machina project and dedicating the development of high-power fuel cells to the heavy transport segment, a market with high potential in terms of decarbonization .

A new trajectory based on unique and solid expertise

At the end of a complete audit of Hopium, Stéphane Rabatel made the very positive observation that Hopium benefited from major advantages and that the announced performances of the fuel cell (20% to 30% higher than the competition) , were very real.

To achieve these performances, Hopium has been able to rely on a team of experts composed mainly of engineers (80% of the workforce) from varied and cutting-edge fields such as aeronautics, automobiles or naval industries. These teams came with their experiences, their skills and their organization which position Hopium at the best level.

  • Major assets serving the project:

    • A

      design logic

customer-oriented: from the start, the design was focused on performance in real-use conditions based on customer needs (size constraints and performance linked to the Machina project).

    • A battery that

integrates all road-related requirements and requests

(robust) and is therefore perfectly suited to the heavy transport market which is subject to the same constraints.

    • The systematic use of modeling

, with the creation of digital twins that help minimize costs and development time. This is a common practice in aeronautics but rare in the automobile industry.

    • Tailor-made test benches

to simulate real conditions, the battery being placed on the bench with the auxiliaries (compressors, pumps, humidifier, filters, etc.) which it will have in real conditions with the sole purpose of validating the results obtained via digital twins.

    • An electrical and electronic system has also been developed according to

      the method ”

      Hardware in the loop

      “,

by real-time simulations using a simulated version of the fuel cell, making it possible to test scenarios (including abnormal and dysfunctional) without risking damage to the prototypes.

    • All software used was developed in-house

by Hopium (test benches, battery control) according to the standards used in land transport.

    • Hopium thus benefits from complete proprietary solutions (software and battery) which allow it to communicate with all land vehicles and guarantee the

      “plug-and-play” nature of its solutions.

Demonstrating this innovative strength, Hopium has filed 14 patents since 2022 and plans to file nearly ten more in the coming months, solely on the fuel cell.

A new chapter for Hopium in heavy transport

With these numerous assets and strengths, Hopium has decided to reorient itself towards the heavy transport market in order to respond to the decarbonization of transport.

Today, road freight emits 65% of all global freight and represents 2,000 million tonnes of CO2 per year.

. The Diesel engine is omnipresent and hydrogen is the most suitable low-carbon alternative to date. For Hopium, this is a strategic, long-term market which offers visibility and significant development potential. Thus, Hopium wishes to actively participate in the decarbonization of this segment through its fuel cell.

  • First sales from the beginning of 2025:

Hopium’s objective is to commercialize its 100 kW and 200 kW hydrogen fuel cell solutions by 2025, which meet the needs of heavy transport. The company also plans to market systems with a power of 400 kW, which will integrate a dual 200 kW system, for higher power needs. To do this, the company took a major step earlier this month with the launch of production of physical prototypes of commercial versions of the fuel cell 3. This advancement marks the first step in Hopium’s new roadmap to commercialization in 2025:

  • April 10, 2024

: launch of orders for parts for the manufacture of prototypes

  • May 2024

: Start of assembly/manufacturing of batteries (stacks)

  • July 2024

: Test bench tests of the 100 kW system. The complete system will be tested on a bench, controlled by the same proprietary Hopium control-command that will control it in real conditions.

  • 3

    th

    quarter 2024

    :

    • Road tests in real conditions: the system will be integrated into the Machina (Alpha0) for tests on the circuit.

    • Bench tests of the 200 kW system (system comprising two 100 kW batteries in tandem).

  • 1

    er

    quarter 2025

: first marketing of 100 kW and 200 kW systems

Hopium will regularly inform the market of the different stages reached as this new roadmap progresses.

With secure financing, passionate teams and a strategic competitive edge, Hopium has the best assets to succeed in this new roadmap and become a major player in the decarbonization of heavy transport.
