Hotel beds and jobs – large quarters and AMS measures for refugees

From Monday, 450 refugees from Ukraine will find refuge in the empty “Austria Trend Hotel” in Wals-Himmelreich. Meanwhile, the AMS is preparing to place the neo-Salzburgers on the job market.

Since the beginning of the war, 2,054 refugees from the Ukraine have been registered and cared for in the arrival center in the Salzburg exhibition center, with around 100 more arriving every day. Around 1,800 displaced persons are now receiving basic care in Salzburg. In order to be able to accommodate the approximately 5,000 expected refugees, quarters are still being sought. The focus here is actually on small-scale private quarters, but it seems as if there is no way around mass quarters. Therefore, from Monday, the “Austria Trend Hotel” in Wals-Himmelreich will offer around 450 people temporary accommodation. The hotel is currently empty and is being let by the owners for temporary use. The Red Cross and the Samaritan Union take care of the care together. All those refugees who want to settle in Salzburg and don’t have enough money to support themselves are allowed to move in. Labor market offers enough space for refugees At the AMS, however, efforts are being made to find jobs for those who arrive as quickly as possible. Even if in most cases we still have to wait for the “blue card” to be issued, 111 Salzburg companies have already expressed an interest in taking on Ukrainian workers at the AMS Job exchange in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce.
