Health is among the investment priorities of the France 2030 plan. In this context, projects can benefit from funding, such as the D2H project launched by the Rhône-Alpes Auvergne Hôpitaux-Universitaires Health Cooperation Group (GCS). HOURAA).
Bringing together four university hospitals in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the group was in the running and participated in wave 2 of the investment plan. Its DataHubHOURAA shared health data warehouse project is among the 10 winners.
Break down data silos and facilitate use
To successfully create the shared data hub and constitute a regional hub, the GCS establishments will have financial support from the State covering 50% of the expenses incurred.
The four CHUs in the region (Clermont-Ferrand CHU, Grenoble Alpes CHU, Hospices Civils de Lyon, Saint-Etienne CHU) therefore intend to co-build a shared warehouse “completely interoperable, natively, called EDS-D2H. ”
The objective of such a regional health hub is to decompartmentalize the data held by each university hospital and thus facilitate their use. The 4 university hospitals bring together 22 hospital sites, 11,150 beds and places, 48,000 professionals.
Thales and Docaposte industrial partners
In a press release, the Hospices Civils de Lyon insist on both technical and organizational pooling.
“This project will contribute to the promotion of multicenter studies and will make it possible to achieve critical mass in terms of data to participate in larger-scale projects, carried out at the regional or national level in connection with the Health Data Hub,” details the partners.
The EDS D2H must enable uses in terms of research, innovation, management and quality. The project will also be accompanied by communication and training actions in order to increase the acculturation of the stakeholders concerned in the use of health data.
This includes practitioners, but also partners from the academic world and industry. Two technology companies are already involved in the construction of the Data Hub: Thales and Docaposte.
“The participation of industrial partners in a project of this type is unprecedented in France,” it is underlined. Their contribution aims in particular to “ensure the sustainability of the EDS D2H, beyond the duration of 40 months set by the call for projects, and will make its deployment to other establishments possible.”
A foundation for digital health projects
A first project to benefit from the Data Hub is also listed. MOBILISES aims to structure and combine multiple data sources, as well as e-health and AI tools.
This combination pursues several purposes: forming e-cohorts of musculoskeletal diseases, predicting and preventing loss of autonomy and comorbidities in these pathologies, improving the patient journey and providing a graduated personalized response.
“Health data and their processing are a strategic issue for developing tools intended to improve the quality and organization of care, research and management of the establishment”, reacts in particular the director of the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital, Valérie Durand Roche.
DataHubHOURAA also makes it possible to “initiate a large-scale technological partnership with THALES and DOCAPOSTE, sovereign industrial players and experts in the security and processing of health data”, comments its counterpart at Hospices Civils de Lyon, Virginie Valentin.
