“House of the Dragon” on ProSieben: Only abridged on free TV! Here you can see the “Game of Thrones” prequel uncensored

• After almost a year and a half, “House of the Dragon” finally makes the jump from pay to free TV.
• ProSieben shows two new episodes every Monday.
• But the “Game of Thrones” prequel has to give up significantly for TV broadcast.

There is a clear age rating for films and series in most countries. If in doubt, you will have to present your ID in the cinema and streaming services can protect children from adult content using a PIN or other security procedures. Only the TV program is available to everyone and therefore there are few options to hide adult content from curious young people.

In principle, of course, parents should keep an eye on their children, but as an additional safeguard there is a very clear broadcasting rule: films and series from 12 years of age are only allowed to be shown on television from 8 p.m. (if they could affect the “well-being of younger children”), title from 4 p.m. only after 10 p.m. and a film from 18 can only be seen from 11 p.m. at the earliest. If broadcasters want to circumvent this regulation, they have to adapt the program themselves – to the annoyance of the audience.

Almost three minutes less fantasy

ProSieben gave “House of the Dragon” a spot in prime time. Basically not bad, at least the time slot at 8:15 p.m. shows that the private broadcaster from Munich certainly believes in the potential of the “Game of Thrones” spin-off. The problem is that “House of the Dragon” is for ages 16 and up and is therefore not actually allowed to be shown that early.

ProSieben then quickly removed over three minutes from the first “House of the Dragon” episode, especially the bloody tournament had to give up. Sex scenes were also removed; you can find a detailed summary of the removed scenes here.

Strangely enough, the second “House of the Dragon” episode ran uncut, even though it started before 10 p.m. and was also approved by the FSK for ages 16 and up. Future episodes, in which things are much more drastic, will certainly only be shown on television in censored form. Luckily, there are unabridged alternatives!

ProSieben is hiding the uncensored version

In addition to the uncut “House of the Dragon” release on DVD and Blu-Ray, you can of course also see the series in full length on WOW – all episodes are already available here. But the “House of the Dragon” repeat, which can always be seen on ProSieben every night from Monday to Tuesday, also shows the consequences in full.

It is particularly easy and even free to watch “House of the Dragon” in the stream on Joyn. Here you can even see the next two episodes a week before they are broadcast on TV – and unabridged. The ProSieben broadcast on Monday evening should actually only be seen as a last option.
