  • “House of the Dragon” was renewed for another season while the first season was still airing.
  • Three trailers for “House of the Dragon” Season 2 have just been released at once.
  • The series starts on HBO on June 16th, 2024, and on June 17th you can see the start of the season on Sky and Wow.

“House of the Dragon” is about the Dance of the Dragons, the war that almost completely destroyed House Targaryen. In season 1, however, there is little of this to be felt. The “Game of Thrones” spin-off took its time and initially only brought all the characters into position in the first 10 episodes. The actual war is now set to break out in the coming second season and plunge the family and the royal family into chaos.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Start Date

It is now clear that “House of the Dragon” season 2 will start on June 16, 2024 on HBO and Max. In this country you will see the new season as usual parallel to the US broadcast on Sky and Wow, i.e. in the early morning hours of June 17, 2024. The episodes are available in both the original and the German dubbed version, including German and English subtitles.

Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” is also only eight episodes long instead of 10 episodes. However, director Clare Kilner justifies the shortened season by saying that so much happens in the individual episodes that they didn’t want to drag the season out unnecessarily.

There are eight wonderful episodes with so much going on that we sometimes had trouble condensing them down to an hour. [Showrunner] Ryan Condal’s decision was to give the season a good opening and ending. The episodes are packed with emotional and visually exciting events.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Trailer

Three trailers were released at once for the new episodes. One highlights the Green side – Alicent Hightower and her family – while the other shows the Black side – Rhaenyra and her family. A third compares the two sides. For the Dance of the Dragons, the spectators should choose a side – green or black.

Videos from the shoot have also emerged in which Olivia Cooke and Phia Saban, aka Alicent Hightower and Helaena Targaryen, are driven through the street in a carriage. An exclamation can be heard that says a lot about Rhaenyra Targaryen’s role in the coming season.

Pictures were also taken from the set showing four actors who presumably embody the so-called dragon seeds. These are the bastard children of the Targaryens who will go to war on the Black side in the Dance of the Dragons. If the assumption is correct, then we see Ulf the White, Hugo Hammer, Nessel and Addam von Holk in the picture.

House of the Dragon: This is what season 2 of the HBO series looks like

In “House of the Dragon” Season 2, the dance of the dragons breaks out. The fronts are hardening.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Plot

Particularly cheerful hours no longer await us in “House of the Dragon” Season 2, because the war has begun. Aegon II Targaryen sits on the throne in King’s Landing that actually belongs to Rhaenyra Targaryen, who has since been crowned Queen of Westeros on Dragonstone and is now planning her revenge.

She relies more on her dragons, but the High Tower also has winged support and, in Vhagar, even the largest of all dragons on her side.

Ryan Condal, one of the creators of the series, promises more characters and more locations for season 2. Season 1 took its time introducing the characters so that the audience was really interested and excited about the events to come.

There will be a total of 4 seasons of “House of the Dragon”, so the well-known story from “Fire and Blood” will be further stretched and embellished. Our spoiler collection reveals what we already know about future strokes of fate and the end of the war.

House of the Dragon Season 2: Cast and Production

Anyone who was bothered by the numerous jumps in time in “House of the Dragon” Season 1 can be happy: Ryan Condal confirmed that the events from season 2 onwards will be without jumps and new casts of well-known characters. This also means that all of the well-known actors in the series will remain intact until their story comes to an end.

These include Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen and Fabien Frankel as Kriston Kraut.

Simon Russell Beale (“Thor: Love and Thunder”) as Ser Simon Kraft, Freddie Fox (“The Great”) as Ser Gawan Hightower, Gayle Rankin (“Perry Mason”) as Alys Strom and Abubakar Salim (“Raised by Wolves” ) as Alyn from Holk will join the cast from the 2nd season of “HotD”.

Robert Rhodes is also new to the cast. The actor will portray Silver Denys, a young man who claims to be a dragon seed of King Maegor I Targaryen.

Also new to the cast is Tom Taylor, who will take on the role of Lord Cregan Stark, ruler of Winterfell. Other new cast members include Clinton Liberty as Addam Verlaryon, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Ginster, Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer, Tom Bennett as Ulf the White and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorn.
