The first season of “House of the Dragon” has just started – and the “Game of Thrones” offshoot is also getting a second season.

Series fans have only seen the first episode of the new “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon”. But it is already clear that the series will also have a second season. The US broadcaster HBO has confirmed that that the offshoot should have further consequences.

The announcement is not surprising. On the one hand, the station has already invested a lot of money in the first ten episodes. According to a report by the industry magazine “Variety” from April, however, they managed to ensure that one episode did not exceed the $20 million mark in production costs.

On the other hand, “House of the Dragon” had the best premiere ever on HBO. The owner Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced that in the USA alone, almost ten million viewers tuned in to the broadcaster and its streaming service HBO Max at the start on Sunday. So far, no opening episode of a series has been so successful there.

The second season also comes to Sky and Wow

“House of the Dragon” includes Paddy Considine (48), Matt Smith (39), Olivia Cooke (28), Emma D’Arcy (30), Steve Toussaint (57), Rhys Ifans (55) and Milly Alcock (22) to see. The series is based on George RR Martin’s (73) book “Fire & Blood”.

In Germany, viewers have been tuning in exclusively to Sky and the Wow streaming service since August 22nd. The new episode of “House of the Dragon” is released every Monday. As the company announces, the second season will also be shown there exclusively. However, it will likely take a long time before this is the case. There is currently no release date known, after all only one episode has been shown so far.
