Just changing the bed linen regularly is not enough in the long run. The mattress should also be cleaned thoroughly.

Regularly changing bed linen is common in every household. In contrast, very few people clean the mattress, even though it poses a health risk. This is what professional cleaning looks like.

Mattresses with covers

Anyone who owns mattresses with a cover has easy cleaning. Basically, the cover can be easily removed and cleaned in the washing machine. Corresponding instructions are usually noted on the label on the cover. It is advisable to also wipe the mattress with a damp cloth.

Cleaning with baking soda

Conventional mattresses can also be cleaned with baking soda. This method is particularly useful when there is no removable cover. Simply spread the home remedy on the fabric and leave it on for a few hours. Then remove the baking soda with the vacuum cleaner. The sodium salt not only neutralizes unpleasant odors, but also kills germs.

Clean mattresses with a damp cloth

If you want to remove stains from your mattresses, ideally clean them with a damp cloth. Soda can also be used as a cleaning agent for this purpose. The procedure is the same as for dry cleaning. However, it is necessary to rub the soda powder on the mattresses with a damp cloth. The stains in particular require intensive treatment. The fabric should then dry first. Then the remaining baking soda can also be vacuumed off with a vacuum cleaner.

Use the winter to ventilate

The cold season is the ideal time for every household to ventilate all mattresses thoroughly. Besides turning regularly, this is the most effective way to prevent mold from forming. The cool temperatures and the dry winter air also dry the fibers of mattresses and kill dust mites.
