Students are not the only ones who have been forced to make their roof available for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Several M6 fictions are also impacted.
An unexpected consequence of Paris 2024. While the capital will host the Games this summer, several filming projects underway in the capital for television have been disrupted by the upcoming sporting event.
This is particularly the case on the M6 side. In fact, the teams from its Scènes de famille and En famille series had until January to leave the Cité du cinéma in Saint-Denis, where they had been based since 2016. The building was requisitioned by the Games Organizing Committee to install “the largest restaurant in the world” for the athletes and their entourage during the sporting event.

“We went a bit ‘gulps’”remembers Stéphane Moatti, deputy general director of the production company Kabo Family, interviewed this week by our colleague from TV Mag. “It’s always complicated when you make industrial fiction to experience shocks and have to find alternative solutions because you can’t stop shooting, you have to keep delivering. Our priority has was not to destabilize the production flow of Household Scenes and En famille”he continues.
After thinking about several options, the production finally decided to separate the studios of its two series. “These are series that cannot be relocated because of the actors’ schedules and the fact that we are 100% in the studio, it would have made no sense to finance a studio in the provinces. So the circle in which “We had to find an answer and it was necessarily in Paris. We then excluded nothing, including finding a wasteland that we would have transformed.”explains Stéphane Moatti.
Smaller but identical film sets
Since then, new premises in the Paris region have been found but this move was not without significant changes which had to be dealt with. “We went from the equivalent of three sets of more than 2500m² to two sets of less than 2000m². But we have not reduced our sets, they are completely identical, the configuration of the sets allows us to optimize the sets. We has, however, had to take offices 200m away for production, writing, directing, preparation and post-production teams.explains the deputy general director of the production company.
With such numerous teams and sets for each series, this move necessarily took time to complete. Stéphane Moatti emphasizes that“a huge amount of preparation time” was necessary. “It took us six months to find the best solution. From the moment we agreed on the new locations, we started preparing for the move in May, to start at the end of July, and we moved in mid-September. That means we had 5-6 weeks to make the move.”he elaborates.
That the faithful of Scenes of households and D’With family can therefore be reassured: their series will in no way be impacted on screen by this forced move!
Household Scènes is broadcast every day at 1:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on M6. En famille is, for its part, currently only available in replay online on 6play.
