Gentle and sustainable care is necessary to ensure that jeans retain their shape and color for a long time. These are the most important tips.

Since their invention in the 19th century, jeans have enjoyed great popularity as a fashionable all-rounder in everyday life. Although it is considered to be particularly hard-wearing and long-lasting, it requires careful maintenance. In this way, the iconic trousers keep their color and shape permanently.

Do not wash too often

Jeans can be found in almost every wardrobe, many people wear them every day. However, it shouldn’t end up in the washing machine too often. Experts recommend washing the trousers every four to six weeks – of course, this only applies if they are not too dirty. If, on the other hand, the jeans are put in the washing machine too often, they will quickly fade. In addition, the fibers loosen and the fabric shrinks over time.

Wash jeans gently

Basically, it is advisable to use a gentle cycle at low temperatures. If the washing machine is set to 60 degrees Celsius or higher, the color of the jeans will be affected. The revolutions per minute should also not exceed 1,200 in order to protect the fabric. Simple color and mild detergents are suitable for the wash cycle. On the other hand, you should avoid using heavy-duty detergent and fabric softener when washing denim.

Sustainable care

It is gentler than the spin cycle to let the jeans air dry. To prevent fading, it should not be exposed to strong sunlight. A dryer can also cause damage. Experts also recommend not ironing the denim. If there are wrinkles, they usually disappear by simply shaking them out and at the latest by wearing the trousers. In order to prevent unpleasant odors despite infrequent cleaning, the jeans should be ventilated regularly in the fresh air.
