STORY – For the second year, the company run by Rodolphe Saadé is the most profitable in France.

It’s a tradition. Without much fanfare, CMA CGM announced its annual results via a press release sent late Friday afternoon. The hallmark of a group that prefers to stay under the radar. So far, there has been no comment. After all, the world’s third-largest shipowner is not accountable to anyone: this company, 73% controlled by the Saadé family, is not listed on the stock exchange. But this time, willy-nilly, the king of container ships, which has its headquarters in Marseille, will find itself in the spotlight. With 24.9 billion dollars in profits (23.5 billion euros) generated in 2022, the carrier is for the second consecutive year the most profitable company in France.
