The magic of ringless voicemail can be very useful if you don’t want to disturb the person you want to contact. Each operator has their own solution.

Imagine this: you are in a meeting; enjoying a moment of tranquility; or just busy doing something important. And suddenly your phone rings or vibrates loudly for an unwanted call. Operators allow users to leave voice messages without having to disturb the recipients. It is your friends, your loved ones and your office colleagues who will thank you.

At Orange and SFR, it’s really easy

Who has never wanted to be able to leave a voice message without having to make the phone of the person he or she wanted to contact ring? Fortunately, certain solutions offered by operators allow us to preserve our peace of mind while remaining connected.

If your contact is at Orange or Sosh, the solution couldn’t be simpler. From your telephone keypad, dial 06 80 80 80 80. You will come across a voice server which will ask you to enter the 10 digits making up the telephone number of your interlocutor, then to press the # key. Child’s play, let yourself be guided.

For SFR and RED, the procedure is identical, but the number to dial will logically be different. Here, type 06 10 00 10 00, and you will again come across a voice server which will prompt you to enter the 10 digits of the recipient and end with the # key.

It’s more complicated if you want to leave a message on a Free Mobile or Bouygues Telecom number

With other operators, it’s a little more complicated. If you want to come directly to a Free Mobile answering machine, it is quite possible, but… you will go to checkout by paying 2.99 euros per call, whether by dialing your number from a landline or a mobile. If you wish to leave a message on a Free Mobile number, dial 32 77, followed by the 10 digits of your contact. Once the call has been initiated, you can skip the answering machine announcement by pressing the * key.

Bouygues Telecom (and B&You) gets the dunce cap here. Certainly, the operator offers a solution, but it is not very accommodating. You can leave a voice message by typing 660 from your keyboard, immediately followed by your recipient’s number. It’s practical, yes, but you don’t know the best: you will only be able to leave a message if you too are at Bouygues Telecom. Obviously, this immediately limits the possibilities.

You don’t know which operator the number you want to contact belongs to? Here’s a simple tip!

ARCEP, the telecoms watchdog, provides consumers with a page which allows them, by entering the first 4, 5, 6 or 7 digits of the telephone number, to find out which operator they are attached to. A tip that will allow you to use the right way to leave a message to your interlocutor without disturbing them.

Other solutions are also available to you for leaving a voice message without annoying the person you are talking to. For example, if the two smartphones are compatible, you can record a message with the voice command of your smartphone, which you will send like an ordinary SMS or MMS. You can also use certain applications, which unfortunately require payment for the majority. There is also the solution of instant messaging, but you must already be connected to your interlocutor.

You are now with all the cards in hand to leave, or not, this famous message to your recipient.
