Director Sharon Maguire originally hired a choreographer to teach comedians how to fight. But after a few sessions with the professional, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth decided to put an end to training. For them, the fight of the film had to have a very amateur side.
“As you have seen, we managed to do it”says Colin Firth. “They always say we can’t do this, it has to be choreographed. But we just thought, ‘We’re playing loose, angry, scared young dynamic executives: how the hell could we know how to punch? “
“The last time these two guys fought was probably when they were 7 years old, in their school playground, with a fight that probably looked like this”continues the actor. “And in the end, it looks like this! It’s one of the most organic things ever done in cinema.”
