Samsung having entered the folding smartphone market first, when it comes to software, their devices tend to be a step ahead. The reward of several years of work and the fruit of feedback from millions of users. So when another protagonist comes to lecture Samsung on ideas to improve the user experience, it’s a small event.
Honor recently unveiled its Honor Magic V2, the brand’s third folding smartphone. And this one displays a new feature called Parallel Space. More than a split screen, it allows you to open two instances of the same application on the same device.
A gadget, but a really well finished gadget
Videographer Austin Evans showed the solution in a video. We see him start the game League of Legends Wild Rift, once on the upper part of the screen, then a second time on the lower part, but in another instance. Result, it is possible for him to play on the same game with two different accounts on the same phone.
If this feat is more of a fun gadget than real use, the video still demonstrates the care taken in the software experience on the part of Honor. Indeed, folding smartphones impose many challenges and it is not uncommon for them to suffer from a lot of display bugs. However, in the small demonstration by Austin Evans, the experiment seems completely mastered.
Indeed, we see him turn the phone and presto, the interface adapts almost without any lag. He then closes the phone and the split screen continues its work on the external screen. Then he opens the phone again and the game continues. Quite stunning.
During our test of the Honor Magic Vs, if we had recognized the beautiful work, we however regretted a lack of software monitoring and some display bugs. Let’s hope that this demonstration, which can only be described as convincing, proves that Honor is ready to step up a gear on the subject.
