How this French GPS tracker will locate your bike, car, scooter and motorcycle even better

Invoxia has released a new GPS tracker called Tracker GPS Pro. Suitable for cars, scooters, motorcycles and bicycles, this new generation moves upmarket thanks to better connectivity capable of tracking your vehicle in real time.

Created in 2010, the French company Invoxia has managed to carve out a place of choice in the world of GPS trackers with 400,000 users in total. Its catalog is aimed at people who want to track their vehicle, but also their pets with the Pet Tracker or the Smart Dog Collar. The Bike Tracker has been cleverly designed to fit discreetly onto your electric bike, in this case in a reflector.

At the end of 2023, the French firm is releasing a whole new generation of product: the Pro GPS Tracker, which is none other than the Pro version of the first version. The big news is in terms of connectivity. This Pro model is based on the low-consumption LTE-M network, which notably uses the 4G network.

Better localization

In doing so, “its bandwidth allows for better coverage in basements, forests and other environments», assures Invoxia in a press release sent to the editorial staff. In other words, this Pro model has better geolocation capabilities in areas that are harder to capture.

This new connectivity “provides coverage in more than 40 countries, with no additional charges when used in a country other than the country of installation», continues the group. Above all, it provides real-time GPS tracking. This is a small but significant change compared to the first version of the tracker.

The latter relied on the low-power LoRa network, which only provided location by limited transmission frequency. The beacon could thus emit a signal every 3 minutes — at best — up to 10 minutes. Here, and as shown in an image from the official website, the frequency can taste at an interval of 1 minute, approaching real time.

Decreasing autonomy

Obviously, all these little new features impact the autonomy of the accessory. Where the Classic GPS Tracker could go up to six months, the Pro model drops to three months maximum – or even a week if you are very greedy in its uses.

For the rest, you will find the nice features already found on the old version, namely:

  • Geofencing: you are notified when your tracker enters or leaves a predefined area, such as your home or workplace;
  • Alerts: you receive a notification in the event of suspicious movement;
  • On the last few meters, a radar and an integrated buzzer help you perfectly locate your tracker.

A logically increasing price

In terms of dimensions, weight and battery, nothing changes: 105 x 27 x 9.5 mm, 30 grams on the scale, capacity of 300 mAh. On the other hand, our protagonist of the day benefits from better protection against water and dust thanks to IP67 certification (compared to IP33 previously). It is always good to take.

Available since December 5, 2023, the Invoxia Tracker GPS Pro is launched at a price of 99 euros – compared to 79 euros for its predecessor. Unfortunately, it is necessary to take out a subscription to make it work: it will cost you 4.99 euros per month from the mobile application. The warranty is two years.
