Amazon Prime Video provides a tool to clean up its video view history. Useful for dismissing content you started but didn’t like.
Have you watched a lot of movies and series on Amazon Prime Video and do you want to clean up the history of the platform? Good news: the service provides a section in the account settings to view the last videos viewed and, if necessary, delete those that you no longer want to see associated with your profile.
View video history on Prime Video
- Go to primevideo.com;
- Log in to your account, if you haven’t yet;
- Go to your profile at the top right of the screen and click on it;
- Go to “Account and Settings”;
- Login to Amazon on the login page;
- Go to the “Reading History” tab;
- Delete all the videos you want.
Amazon reminds, for all intents and purposes, that each Prime Video profile has its own list of videos viewed. So make sure you’re on your profile and not that of your boyfriend or girlfriend, or a family member, and so on. Only downside: there is no button to delete all videos at once.
As a reminder, the Prime Video subscription costs 5.99 euros per month, or 49 euros per year, and is included in the Amazon Prime subscription which gives advantages in terms of parcel deliveries.
Cleaning up to remove videos you didn’t like
We don’t always have the lucky hand when selecting a film or series on a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform. Sometimes it’s a stroke of luck, a nugget, a revelation. And sometimes it’s a disaster. We were fooled by the promising title, the enticing thumbnail or quite simply by the misguided advice of a close friend.
In these cases, we don’t really want to continue if the work really doesn’t convince us at all. We press the button symbolizing a small cross for video farm and we move on – whether by giving a chance to another work or by taking care of it differently. It’s short term enough to be quiet.
But in the medium and long term, this is insufficient. At issue: recommendation algorithms. These tools are based on what you have seen to offer you similar works, assuming that if you have launched such or such content, it is because it tempted you. Also, it is not useless to clean your history of videos seen from time to time.
