Gamescom 2022 officially begins tomorrow evening with its opening conference: Opening Night Live. We tell you everything there is to know about this event, the confirmed games, those expected and the craziest and most credible rumors.
The second summer meeting is back in good and due form. As of this week, the German lounge will reopen its doors to players from all over the world. The opportunity to find out more about the next releases of the year and the other games to come. To kick off the Gamescom 2022 festivities, Geoff Keighley and his Opening Night Live will also return to service. PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Nintendo Switch there should be something for everyone. The big night is approaching. After a few weeks of teasing, the Opening Night Live will come to open the ball for Gamescom 2022 with a conference that we are promised rich in announcements. A show that will be held this Tuesday, August 23 at 9 p.m. (French time) which should last about two hours. As usual, the event will be broadcast on all the usual media and communication channels, including the official Game Awards channels on Twitch and YouTube and those of Gamescom. Long shown during the Summer Game Fest, Sonic Frontiers will continue to try to curry favor with fans at Gamescom 2022. The open-world game should also reveal its release date for the occasion. Another title particularly awaited by its community, Return to Monkey Island will certainly make a detour at the German trade show conference to reveal its launch date as well. On the MMO side, the creators of Genshin Impact will once again present Honkai Star Rail, their new project.
Some productions, perhaps less expected, will be there. The Outlast Trials will thrill players with a new video, while Goat Simulator 3 promises a whole different vibe. In the genre well struck, fans of Rick & Morty will be able to discover a new preview of the exclusive Xbox High on Life. Telltale will also be back with its adaptation of The Expanse series which should be further detailed during Opening Night Live 2022. Games expected for Opening Night Live
The Opening Night Live teaser more or less confirmed a few games. Starting with Lies of P, the spiritual successor to Bloodborne which should probably announce its day one release on the Xbox Game Pass according to a leak. Dying Light 2’s first big DLC, ‘Blood Ties’ is also set to pop into the Gamescom 2022 opening ceremony to reveal itself in due form. A Plague Tale Requiem should no doubt show some footage on occasion too, much like Skull & Bones also seen in the event trailer.
Also featured could be the recently announced Lord of the Rings spin-off game from Weta Workshop and Private Division. Hazel Light (It Takes Two) was also expected to announce his new game this summer. Also, since Telltale will be showcasing one of its games and the developer promised news of The Wolf Among Us 2 this year, the ONL might be the one. One thing is certain, we will not have to rely on announcements from PlayStation or Nintendo.
For the rest of the games presented, rumors are rife. Some are almost assured thanks to leaks from Amazon. The American giant could have unveiled two big surprises from Gamescom 2022 in advance. Starting with New Tales From the Borderlands, the sequel to Telltale’s narrative game which will feature new characters. According to the blunder of the site, the title would be scheduled for October 21, 2022. Fans of Avatar The Last Airbender could also discover the famous RPG for home consoles and PC: Avatar Quest for Balance. The big spoiled surprise, however, would FINALLY be the return of Dead Island 2. The game that caused a stir at E3 2014 would be alive and well and ready to be released according to a leak from Amazon.
A leaker reputed also has teased the presence of the open world game Dune signed Funcom. The publisher of Conan Exiles had so far been content to show some concept art. Maybe we will have the right to a real trailer this time? Who says Opening Night Live, says Geoff Keighley and his great friend Hideo Kojima.
