How to know the battery status of a MacBook

The more you use your MacBook, the more you wear out its battery, which over time loses efficiency and therefore autonomy. To maintain a machine with optimal performance or anticipate failures, we explain how to know if you need to change your MacBook battery.

Batteries wear out over time and laptops are no exception. Indeed, current technology ensures optimum efficiency over a certain number of charging cycles. This means that the more full recharges you achieve, the closer you are to the day when the battery will lose all effectiveness and will need to be replaced. Apple has the good idea to offer us a tool to determine where the battery of your MacBook is.

How do you know if you need to change your MacBook battery?

Apple lets us know the number of charge cycles in seconds. Just follow the following procedure:

  • Click on the apple menu and select About This Mac.

  • On the right appears a series of information, identify the section Health Information.
  • The line just below: Cycle countgives you the number of charge cycles performed by the battery.

As long as the latter is less than 1000, all is well and you will have nothing to fear. Beyond that, your battery will no longer be optimal in its ability to recharge energy. It is then time to replace it. This component is quite capricious and can sometimes withstand another one to two hundred load cycles before collapsing suddenly. However, depending on your uses, can you take this risk?
