By the time you finally decided to succumb to false nails, you never imagined that – a few weeks later – you would find yourself questioning Google again, but this time to find out how to remove them! Yes, as beautiful as your varnished fingers are – and despite the fact that your manicure has been at the center of all discussions lately – it was inevitable: your natural nails grew and the result is no longer what it was on the first day of installation … So you are resigned to part with it , only here: you don't know how to do it! Do not panic, we are here to provide you with the answers to your questions.

To get started, you need to ask yourself what materials are your false nailscapsules, gel, resin, or acrylic – the method of removal will depend on the nature of your manicure, so this is the very first question to ask.

How to remove your false nails in capsules?

The answer is a quick, easy and economical method. The acetone remover is a very powerful product that will do most of the work for you by breaking down the glue false nails. Be careful though, its use carries risks, which is why – like all other toxic substances – it should not be abused. Use with care, therefore – take care of your natural nails, skin and lungs!

The products you will need:
– a bowl filled with acetone remover
– nail clippers
– cuticle regrowth

To prepare the ground, start by cutting your false nails fairly short, which will make your removal work easier. To do this, take your nail clippers – or a pair of scissors if not. Then put your nails to soak in a bowl of acetone for 15 to 20 minutes. Essential step, let the product act while ensuring that all of your nails are well immersed.

To prevent acetone from irritating your skin, you can apply a layer of petrolatum around the edges of your nails to protect it.

After the time has passed, rinse with water, dry your hands, then try – carefully and without forcing – to remove capsules of your natural nails. If you feel some resistance, just dip your fingers again 5 more minutes in the bowl of acetone. Once the nail is removed, gently scrape off the adhesive residue using a cuticle pusher and voila.

You can also do it differently.
For this, take this time with
– aluminum foil
– cotton
– acetone remover

Soak each piece of cotton with the product (be careful, the pieces of cotton must be wet, not dripping) before rolling them up with your varnished fingertips and fix everything with rectangles of pre-cut aluminum foil. Wait 20 minutes then rinse with water before trying to remove each fake nail, with the greatest care, as for the previous method.

You will understand: the principle is the same here, it's just the way of proceeding that changes. You just have to decide between the two, which one is best for you.

How to remove your false nails in gel, resin or acrylic?

Far too strong and thick to be removed as it is with acetone remover, the answer to this question therefore lies in adopting a completely different method. Know that to remove false nails in gel, in resin or in acrylic, you have the choice between two different processes:

For the first, here are the products you will need:
– a large grain lime
– a finer grain file

Start with file your false nails using your coarse lime. Go slowly, without too much force and regularly removing the dust created with a brush or a soft cloth. This will allow you to see where you are with your natural nail and stop at the right time without risking damaging it. Once you get rid of the biggest part, you can then continue filing, but this time, using your finer grain lime to refine your work. Be careful, however, not to file the entire gel, of the resin or from acrylic, but leave a thin layer to protect your already fragile natural nail.

For the second, you will need the following products:
– a cuticle stick
– dental floss

Use the pointed end of the stick to lift the fake nail at its base to form a small space in which the thread of your dental floss will be able to slip. Then slide the dental floss between your natural nail and the material in order to peel it little by little, to the end, using light movements until it comes off. When finished, cut, file and polish your natural nails until they regain a neat appearance.

Be careful, keep in mind that these techniques can damage your natural nails. This is the reason why you would surely be better to speak directly to a professional when it comes to removing false nails other than capsules (in other words: in gel, in resin or in acrylic).
Of course, going to an institute costs more, but by contacting a Nail technician with solid training you can be sure that your removal will be carried out in the best conditions possible, to the delight of your natural nails!
