How to see the Google I/O 2023 conference dedicated to Android 14, Bard and Pixels

The 2023 Google I/O conference takes place on May 10 at 7 p.m. It can be followed live on the net.

The years go by, the I/O conferences follow one another. For 2023, Google has made an appointment with the tech ecosystem to present its new software and hardware. This I/O 2023 will be an opportunity to reconnect with the public – the covid epidemic had forced the Mountain View firm to change the format of its event somewhat.

Where and when to watch Google I/O 2023?

Two retransmissions are offered by Google on YouTube. There is a classic broadcast of the conference, offered live, starting at 7 p.m. on May 10. There is also another stream, this time for the deaf and hard of hearing. American Sign Language will be offered. Note that it is not necessarily understandable for a person signing in French.

What announcements are expected from Google?

We expect to have news of Android 14, the next generation of the mobile operating system for smartphones and tablets. Android 13 was not exciting, with an OS without noticeable evolution. It makes you wonder if mobile OSes still have enough leeway to evolve – or if we haven’t reached a certain plateau.

Google should also occupy the field of artificial intelligence with Bard, its conversational AI based on the LaMDA language model. It is perhaps here that the group will be expected at the turn, as this subject has become the center of gravity of tech in the space of a few months. So far, Google has been lagging behind Microsoft and OpenAI.

Since the beginning of the year, Google has been suspected of preparing the launch of a series of products and services around AI, precisely to deceive. The I/O conference could be a very good opportunity to show where these projects are. And to launch some in stride? Bard, for example, is currently only accessible by invitation.

On the hardware side, we should have news of the Pixel Fold, the Pixel 7a, the little brother of the Pixel 7 and the Pixel Tablet. If interest in the Pixel 7a is very relative, the Fold is more intriguing: it will be a folding phone. We could also have a little surprise from the internet giant, with a very first glimpse of the Pixel 8, which will probably be launched during the fall.
