Cutting from a shoot (new trunk)

The Truffaut garden centers offer in a video a technique for cutting a pilea using a sucker. What is a rejection? It is simply a new pilea shoot that grows at a distance but separately from the original stem. To take cuttings from this new trunk, take it by gently grabbing it or, if it is already a little rooted, by removing the pilea to strip away the soil and find the new growth. Clean the base of the small roots then repot it in its own terracotta pot, with clay balls, a drainage filter and a soil-sand mixture initially. And There you go !

Cutting from a leaf

On her Instagram account, Sarah from Trique ta plant, explains how to take cuttings from a simple leaf.

Cut a leaf in full shape (very green, without blemish) at the base with the stem, trying to keep as much of the junction point as possible. Place this leaf in a soliflore or test tube with water. Leave it there for about fifteen days, changing the water regularly. Once the roots have developed, put your pilea cutting in the ground.

Editor’s advice: If you want your pilea to grow straight, turn your pot regularly, each time you water it for example. Your plant will grow towards the sun, turning it will allow it to grow more evenly.
