Holding cash can be useful especially for transactions between individuals. To get it, there is the classic method: withdraw money with your bank card at the distributor. But know that it is quite possible to do it without a map. Here’s how.

Don’t have a bank card and need to pay in cash? Have you lost your credit card and are you short of cash? Don’t panic, there are solutions for withdrawing money without a bank card.

Withdrawal at your bank counter

First possibility, go to your bank branch. Indeed, it is still possible to withdraw cash directly at the counter, and in particular with the largest banks. Several methods are possible here. Your bank may, for example, ask you to complete a withdrawal slip with the references of the bank account to be debited. An identity document is also requested. You can also withdraw money from a money order, a check issued by a third party, or even a traveller’s cheque.

For the withdrawal of cash at the counter to be possible, your bank branch must nevertheless be equipped with a cash service. And sometimes, the amount withdrawn can be capped at a certain amount, in accordance with your account agreement. Your bank may also impose a notice period before issuing the money to you at the counter, generally one or two days.

Be careful however, fewer and fewer agencies allow withdrawal at the counter, do not hesitate to find out before you go.

Is it possible to withdraw cash from a counter in a branch other than yours? Withdrawing cash at the counter is in principle only possible at your bank branch. Withdrawal via a mobile application

New possibility for cash withdrawal without bank card: your phone! Or more specifically your mobile banking application. From this application, it is possible to trigger a cash withdrawal, come and collect it either at the counter or from a distributor. This possibility exists in particular with the People’s Bank, via the SMART’Retrait service. To use it, you must first activate the service with your adviser, then go to the Payment Methods menu. You will then have to select the account to be debited, the desired amount and the date of the withdrawal. A number will be communicated to you, return at the time of the withdrawal to the distributor.

Withdrawal via a mobile application is also available in the group’s banks Mutual Credit. To benefit from remote withdrawal, contact your adviser so that he can activate e-withdrawal, and send you a code by sms which will allow you to withdraw the money from the ATM. Once this first maneuver has been completed, the service is available directly from the customer area or the mobile application. The bank also opens this possibility to the children of the account holder, or even a relative. Please note, however, that the majority of branches allow cash withdrawals from a mobile application only from their distributor, find out directly from your bank branch.

What about online banking? Withdrawing without a bank card generally requires a physical bank branch or the provision of a distributor, elements that are unusual in online banks. The main ones do not currently offer this service.
