La Française des Jeux (FDJ) is expanding its payment solution at Nirio tobacconists with a bank account and a payment card, announced the group’s president Stéphane Pallez on Thursday during the group’s general meeting.
This new service will be launched Monday morning at a Parisian tobacconist.
Nirio, an application launched in January 2023 to allow social housing tenants to pay their rent in cash or bank card in the FDJ network, now has 10,000 approved points of sale.
Since January 2024, the service has also allowed the 650,000 customers of the Sogexia online bank to deposit cash in the approved network, with the objective of also offering cash withdrawal at these points of sale.
New step launched this week: the Nirio Premio bank account with its Visa payment card and its “innovative budget management tools”, according to the offer posted on the Nirio website.
“For us it was a marginal investment for an extremely positive and favorable return on our model”, by contributing to the vitality of the network where 90% of bets are recorded, indicated the leader of the FDJ during the General Assembly of the group, without giving more details on the new offer.
From June, Nirio can also be used for certain motorway tolls, on free flows which do not have gantries.
Before the launch of Nirio, the national lottery operator already offered via its terminals the payment of public bills (fines, public service bills, taxes of less than 300 euros) at some 15,000 tobacconists.
Each year, more than 2 million operations of this type are carried out in the network, according to the FDJ.
