You can create a small oasis with a few simple steps. A feeling of sea, beach and vacation at your home. We’ll give you interior tricks to help you relax in your own four walls.

The sound of the sea within your own four walls? Sure, that also works if we play an atmospheric audio file. But the right atmosphere may only arise if we close our eyes and imagine exactly where we want to be. Why not bring a little holiday feeling home instead? More precisely: the feeling of a holiday by the sea. What do we find there? An interplay of green and blue tones, but also sand and various yellow, beige or wood tones. Even washed-out elements with a shabby look can remind us of the beach, as it feels as if the salt has taken some of the color away from them. This is how you bring the holiday feeling into your everyday life:

Decoration with driftwood

A simple way to bring some beach and sea feeling into your home is with driftwood. As a decoration in the glass, on the window sill or as a decorative work of art on the wall, for example. There are many ways to make it beautiful. A possibility would also be to combine it with pretty plants or give an extra frame to a picture with some pieces. So you have a bit of nature in your four walls, which, depending on the decoration, reminds you of past holidays.

You could also make a wardrobe out of a large piece of wood and some nice hooks – or you can choose some “planks” like in the example, which are reminiscent of the wood of an old jetty or maybe a boat. If you decide to choose wood yourself on a trip to the North Sea or Baltic Sea, you should make sure to process it properly before you use it. You can find instructions here.

Nice souvenirs for the wall

Beautiful surfboards paired with a matching wood look can make the room look much more summery and remind us of the warm breeze on the beach and on the sea. Paddles are ideal for beautifying shelves or hanging them decoratively on the wall.

Incidentally, regardless of whether you use them yourself or not. It’s the same with surfboards. If you like the aesthetics, you don’t have to be a professional yourself. Shelves that look like parts from old rowing boats are also popular.

The North German coastal look

The north coast, with its many wicker beach chairs and blue-and-white aesthetic, has its charms. Wood painted white is often combined with blue and white furniture or carpets.

And what should not be missing, of course, is the woven basket look, whether for seating or for other pieces of furniture. Popular decorations include knots and ropes reminiscent of past sea voyages or shells in glasses with some decorative sand.

Abstract and modern

If you prefer to put less effort into redesigning your own living space, you can choose a beautiful motif reminiscent of the sea. A pretty photograph or an abstract painting in blurring shades of green and blue, for example. In addition, cushions in beach and sea tones can enhance the room. But be careful not to become too beige or too blue and always start to approach a look in small steps.

Like underwater

A light projector in the room can ensure pure relaxation. The pretty lights make you feel like you’re lying beneath the surface of the water and looking up where the light breaks off in a beautiful play of colors, creating colorful works of art.
