Pop singer Howard Carpendale has revealed a funny anecdote – he was actually mistaken for an American actor a few years ago.

The German-South African pop singer is in this country Howard Carpendale, 77, known for many years. His hits “Ti amo” and “Hello Again” made him famous. But the father of Wayne Carpendale, 46, is apparently not recognized everywhere. The musician now reported a funny mix-up.

Howard Carpendale has a lookalike in Hollywood

In the “Schlager Planet Radio” podcast, Carpendale talked about the incident, which is said to have happened in 2003. At that point he briefly ended his career, the singer recalled, according to “T-Online”. At the time, he apparently perceived his fame as a burden: he finally wanted to live in a place where he wouldn’t be recognized everywhere. As a result, he went away – hoping to be able to travel incognito somewhere else. He was mistaken: Immediately after his arrival in the country in question, he was asked for an autograph. However, the person did not recognize him as Howard Carpendale, but instead thought he was a big Hollywood star. “Shortly after I got there, someone asked me for an autograph Nick Nolte asked,” revealed the pop singer with a smile.

Been mistaken for Nick Nolte several times

There is no denying a certain visual similarity between Carpendale and Nolte, who is five years older. Apparently fans think so too: Carpendale was confused with the actor not just once, but several times. “It’s happened a few times,” the South African-born singer admitted.
