With Spectre, HP is treading on still relatively unexplored territory, namely the folding laptop.

HP, which is currently in court, wants to (re)shake up the codes of the portable PC market, with its new Specter Foldable PC. This is a new 3-in-1 type computer, with a foldable screen, which aims to combine the (best) features of a laptop, a tablet and a desktop computer, enough to create the ultimate hybrid experience.

HP Spectre, the computer that wants to “fold the game”…

Concretely, the new Specter from HP is similar to a huge touchscreen tablet, equipped with a 17-inch OLED screen, all powered by Windows 11. This tablet has a kickstand at the back, which allows you to install the latter on a work surface. You can then use the large touch screen or the Bluetooth keyboard provided.

The “Foldable” side of the Specter is manifested by a tablet which is capable of folding on itself, so as to take the form of a laptop PC. From then on, you can come and put down the keyboard provided, to take advantage of a small laptop with a 12.3 inch screen. Obviously, the whole thing can be perfectly closed on itself, like a classic laptop PC.

…and your bank account

In addition to the classic laptop side, the HP Specter also allows another, more original use. This requires pulling the keyboard slightly towards you, in order to benefit from a small additional display surface, between the keyboard and the main screen. The latter then allows additional information to be displayed.

Under the hood, we find an Intel Core i7 processor, coupled with a total of 16 GB of RAM, without forgetting 1 TB of storage.

A small 5-megapixel front camera is also included, as is Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, and HP promises battery life of around a dozen hours.

Obviously, with its Spectre, HP intends to impose itself this time, but it also risks imposing itself on your bank account, since the PC is announced at the price of 4,999 dollars. Availability expected from this month of October.
