HTC VIVE FLOW UNBOXING: our homemade unboxing in photos and video of HTC’s immersive VR glasses

The HTC VIVE Flow immersive VR glasses, unveiled last October, were initially due to be released the following month, but it’s only been a few days since they finally became available in France. The Taiwanese manufacturer intends this accessory, much lighter and bulkier than a traditional VR headset, for social exchanges, relaxation, brain gymnastics but also for watching films or television in VR. If the gaming is clearly not its target, it is nonetheless compatible with Viveport- the online store of HTC – and some games originally intended for the HTC Vive Focus.

The box is particularly small and made with recyclable materials. Inside, the finding is mixed with a plastic support and two out of three single-use plastic bags. Pity. In the same way, three rather substantial notices, because in several languages, are present while connecting to the Internet is compulsory for the installation of the helmet, the link to do so is printed on the box and everything is explained online. HTC still has a bit of a way to go to save resources.

The contents of the box:

  • HTC VIVE Flow Immersive Glasses;
  • 1.2 meter USB Type-C cable (to connect to an external battery not included);
  • Soft carrying case (not covered as advertised);
  • Nose support (for use without the light shield);
  • Notices.

To note, while on all videos and infographics showing its immersive VR glasses, HTC had shown a beautiful shelled transport box, it’s a simple fabric cover that the manufacturer delivers in the box. A slight impression – euphemism when you hold us – of having been cheated arises at this time but as always, the visual presented was non-contractual. Too bad, but we will come back to this in our full test which is coming soon. The pictures of our unboxing are on the next page and below you will find the replay from our LIVE video “HTC VIVE FLOW: unboxing and first impressions.

You can find HTC VIVE Flow at the official website at the price of 549 euros with two months of subscription to Viveport Infinity and the HTC earbuds offered until April 3, 2022. They are available on the LDLC website at €549.95 without the advantages mentioned but deliverable in 24 hours by chronopost free of charge at a relay point or at 0.99 cents at home.
