The Huawei Luxeed S7, the result of a collaboration between Huawei and the manufacturer Chery, has surprising ambitions in the world of electric cars. With impressive features and cutting-edge technology, it aims directly to compete with Tesla.

After Xiaomi, it is the turn of the Tech industry giant Huawei to present its Luxeed S7 electric sedan. If it embodies Huawei’s ambition to establish itself on the global market for electric vehicles, it proves once again that the cars of tomorrow will have to be further developed around software. Without starting from a blank sheet, the Luxeed S7 is designed in partnership with another giant of the Chinese automobile industry, the manufacturer Chery, which no one knows here and which has nevertheless sold 1.06 million vehicles worldwide. over the first eight months of the year.

A large sedan

The Luxeed S7 has generous dimensions with a length of 4.97 meters, a width of 1.96 meters and a height of 1.47 meters. The wheelbase is, for its part, very generous at 2.95 meters, which augurs a royal space on board.

Its design evokes prestigious models like the Porsche Taycan, particularly at the front lights. Above all, it displays a record Cd of 0.203, making it one of the most aerodynamic sedans in the world.

The interior is not to be outdone with a huge horizontal touchscreen integrating the HarmonyOS 4 infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital handset and a 2.6 square meter panoramic roof. The trunk offers a capacity of 420 liters, supplemented by 25 storage spaces in the cabin.

Up to almost 500 electric hp

Based on the E0X platform common to the high-end Exeed division of the manufacturer Chery, the Luxeed S7 offers one to two electric motors for powers ranging from 215 to 496 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 .3 seconds.

These engines will be powered by a battery from CATL capable of offering between 600 and 700 km depending on the power chosen. However, we do not have the battery capacity. But the most important thing in reality is that the Luxeed S7 is based on an 800 V architecture which allows very fast charging. In Europe, very few manufacturers offer vehicles on 800 V platforms. Except for Audi and Porsche, there are only Hyundai and Kia.

Thus equipped, the Huawei Luxeed S7 would be able to recharge from 10 to 80% in just 15 minutes and above all consume only 12.4 kWh/100km. A value that we are eager to verify as it seems low to us.

Not with us

If this car catches your eye, know that the Luxeed S will be officially marketed from November 28, that it only costs 258,000 yuan, or 33,000 euros, and that it has already received 10,000 pre-orders. But there is a catch. For the moment it will not be sold in France and if it were to be imported, its price would be around 50,000 euros. However, it is interesting to note that an arrival on French soil is not excluded, but that in addition the Chinese car manufacturer Chery is studying its establishment on European soil. To be continued.
