Two years after a convincing MateBook X Pro, Huawei is back in 2024 with a new iteration of its high-end ultrabook. The model notably undergoes a slimming treatment, upgrades to Intel’s Core Ultra and above all is adorned with an Oled panel.

980 g on the scale

At first glance, the chassis of the MateBook X Pro 2024 is identical to that of 2022 with a waterdrop design. Huawei especially took advantage of this to hunt for grams. As a result, its MateBook X Pro weighs only 980 g, or 280 g less than its predecessor. The manufacturer announces that it has worked on the weight of the motherboard and the aluminum chassis.

A Core Ultra to ride the AI wave

Inside, Huawei still trusts Intel, particularly with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H and 9 185H. These are equipped with the latest architecture from the founder: Meteor Lake. This has the particularity of releasing the new Intel 4 engraving finesse and the tile design. But that’s not all, an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) makes it possible to process tasks dedicated to AI while the graphics part, Intel Arc, is twice as efficient as the Iris Xe of the previous generation. To accompany these processors, up to 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage can be installed.

Switching to Oled

Last important novelty, the transition from an IPS panel to an Oled panel. The 14.2 panel in 3:2 format displays 3120 x 2080 pixels at 120 Hz, but can now reach nearly 1000 cd/m² in peak HDR brightness.

The connectivity remains unchanged with two Thunderbolt 4 ports and two USB-C ports, as does the wireless connectivity which is limited to wifi 6. Huawei is therefore skipping wifi 7 and wifi 6E, something quite surprising in 2024 .

The battery capacity increases from 60 Wh to 70 Wh. Coupled with the Core Ultra, it should allow the MateBook hours of autonomy regained in 10 minutes of charging.

The MateBook X Pro should be available in a few months in France. It is currently sold in China for the equivalent of €1,440.
