The strike in Hollywood gives the two “Deadpool” stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds time to go to the stadium together again.

In the “X-Men” offshoot “Deadpool 3” the two Hollywood buddies Ryan Reynolds (46) and Hugh Jackman (54) will soon be back together on the big screen. With the current strike by the US actors’ union SAG-AFTRA thwarting the production of the action-packed comic film adaptation, the actors who play the characters Deadpool and Wolverine find time to devote themselves to their sporting interests.

Detour from Hollywood to Wrexham

Jackman made an extra trip to Wrexham, Wales, to watch a match between AFC Wrexham and the Milton Keynes Dons with Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds and his actor colleague Rob McElhenney (46) took over the traditional club AFC Wrexham in 2021 and led them back to professional football. From the 2023/24 season, the third oldest soccer team in the world will play in the fourth-rate EFL League Two.

Even though AFC Wrexham lost 5-3 to their opponents in the end, the two stars in the stands obviously had a lot of fun together. Wearing a club fan baseball cap, Hugh Jackman made it unmistakably clear which side he was on.

On Instagram he posted a photo of himself and friend Reynolds in the stands of the stadium, captioning it: “Epic opening day at wrexham_afc. mkdonsfc played heroically.” As a little silliness, he added: “Thanks to Hugh Jackman for his first and last day as ‘Admiral Vice Football Operations Ombudsman’ because I just found out you made up the title.”
