It was probably the most surprising separation news of the year so far: After almost three decades of marriage, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are going their separate ways. Now the actor is speaking out about the love affair for the first time.
Not many marriages in Hollywood last as long as that of Hugh Jackman, 54, and Deborra-Lee Furness, 67. They were considered a dream couple and went through life together for 27 years. The announcement of their separation came all the more surprising on Friday, September 15, 2023. A few days later, the actor gives an honest insight into his inner life.

A short video available to the American celebrity portal “TMZ” shows the 54-year-old walking thoughtfully through the streets of New York on Saturday, September 17th. When asked by a paparazzo about the end of his marriage, he reacts politely but cautiously. He initially explains to the photographer that it doesn’t feel right to talk about it on the street. When he asks again, Jackman explains: “I appreciate your thoughts. It’s a difficult time.”

The “Wolverine” star and his wife issued a joint statement to People at the end of the week in which they said they would be going their separate ways from now on. “We have been blessed to spend nearly three decades as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. We have decided to separate in order to move forward individually,” it said.
The two Australians tied the knot in 1996 and are parents to two children, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. “Our family has always been and will always be our top priority. We approach this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness.” , the two clarified in their public statement, asking for their privacy to be respected as “our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
