Hugues Aufray: his terrible secrets about the suicide of his brother

Sunday March 13, 2022, Hugues Aufray was invited to the show Tell me what you sing on Europe 1. Shortly after listening to the song L’enfer de Stromae, the singer could not contain his emotion. And for good reason, the latter reminds him of the suicide of his brother.

After seven years of absence, Stromae made its big comeback on the front of the stage. On the set of TF1’s 8 p.m. newspaper, the Belgian singer had upset viewers following his interpretation of his new title hell, which evokes his suicidal thoughts. Guest on the show Tell me what you sing on Europe 1, Hugues Aufrey chose to listen to this song, whose lyrics particularly touch him. Moved, he blurted out: “Too talented. He gave me a black cockroach.“While Didier Barbelivien asked him why he had chosen this title, the singer revealed:”Because it’s too beautiful. That’s so much talent. And the talent of others is a godsend.

After revealing that this song made him think of his brother, who committed suicide at the age of 27 following a forbidden love, Hugues Aufrey confided: “It’s not a song, it’s a declaration… It’s a confession… It’s something so intimate that it pierces me…“Upset, it was then that he could not find his words that the singer finally let go:”I find it difficult to speak.“Finally, he took advantage of this interview to reveal that he had written a song about suicide, which he wanted to include in his last album, but was refused. In conclusion, he then declared: “This is a very difficult subject to discuss. And Stromae is a very, very great talent.

Hugues Aufrey remains devastated by the death of his brother

In July 2020, it is in the columns of Paris Match that the artist had evoked the memory of his brother. “He was very handsome, he had one of the most beautiful voices in the world. On my advice, he left for Canada and he won a competition which prepared him to join George London in New York.“, he revealed before adding: “But he fell in love with a 15-year-old Chinese girl whose parents said: ‘She will never marry a European.’ And my brother, who had a dramatic nature, who lived in Wagner, committed suicide for love. He was 27 years old.
