Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has announced a new film that will be “even more violent” than the Netflix series.

Hwang Dong-hyuk (50) is working on a new project. The director and author of the hit Netflix series “Squid Game” spoke about his film “Killing Old People Club” at the MIPTV television fair in Cannes, as “Variety” reports. The strip was inspired by a novel by the Italian writer and philosopher Umberto Eco (1932-2016), revealed Dong-hyuk.

He has already written 25 pages on the project, which will certainly be “another controversial film”. “It’s going to be more violent than ‘Squid Game,'” the director announced, adding that he might have to hide from old people after the film comes out.

Then the second season “Squid Game” should be seen

Now he will return to South Korea to write the second season of “Squid Game,” which he hopes will air on Netflix in late 2024, Hwang Dong-hyuk said. The 50-year-old developed, wrote, directed and produced the nine-part series that became a huge hit for Netflix.

The South Korean production tells the story of a mysterious invitation. 456 contestants, all in dire financial straits, are locked in a secret location and forced to play a series of traditional Korean children’s games to win 45.6 billion won. However, if they don’t win, they must die.

The biggest compliment he’s received for his hit Netflix show has come from Steven Spielberg, 75, who told him he wanted to “steal his brain,” Hwang Dong-hyuk told the MIPTV appointment. “That was the biggest compliment I’ve ever received in my life because he’s my movie hero. I grew up watching his movies.”
