Hydro: EU authorizes co-acquisition of Vianode

(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission announces that it has authorized the acquisition of joint control of Vianode by Elkem, Hydro Energi Invest and Altor Fund Manager.

Vianode is active in the development of anode materials for the production of battery materials in the United States and the European Economic Area.

Elkem is active worldwide in the production of special alloys based on silicon, ferrosilicon, carbon, microsilica and ferrosilicon for the iron foundry and the steel industry.

Hydro is a fully integrated aluminum company and operates across the entire aluminum value chain.

Altor manages a group of private equity funds making investments worldwide.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns given its very limited impact on the market.
