Shark’s floor care offering was already generous. While it included six categories of products, a seventh has just appeared: floor scrubbers. The American company is launching the HydroVac, capable of washing and vacuuming floors.

With or without cord, the broom adopts the now conventional silhouette of this type of device. A thin handle directs the floor scrubber’s larger body, which is made up of two water tanks – for clean water and dirty water. The washing head is made up of a large rotating roller designed to remove everyday stains and dust. According to Shark, it would be able to swallow broken eggs, cereals, mud or ketchup, for example. Thanks to the Express Empty function, debris is then separated from dirty water for greater hygiene. We still have a reservation on this subject and are curious to handle the HydroVac. In fact, many competitors provide a filter to retain solids from the liquid, which has not proven itself in reality.

Led pictograms deliver information in real time, such as battery level, floor type and cleaning solution level. The latter is provided by the manufacturer to eliminate bad odors. It can be added as an option and can be used regardless of the washing method chosen. A first mode is mainly suitable for waterproof hard floors to clean them thoroughly, while the second mode is intended to refresh and deodorize short-pile carpets.

In order to limit the proliferation of bacteria and bad odors between two washes, the brush has undergone an antibacterial treatment. For greater hygiene, a self-cleaning cycle is provided by Shark when the broom is on its base. Obviously hand washing the roller is recommended.

For the wireless version, Shark announces an autonomy of 25 minutes, or approximately 90 m². However, you will have to fill the water tank twice to hope to achieve this result. The wired version does not raise these kinds of questions and benefits from a 7.6 m cable, which is rather comfortable. However, we regret that the two devices display similar characteristics and we would have preferred a steam mode for the wired HydroVac, for example.

HydroVacs can also refresh short pile carpets.

The two devices are already on sale on the Shark website and on Amazon at a price of €250 for the wired floor scrubber (WD100EU) and €300 for the cordless model. (WD210EU).
