The Hyundai Ioniq 5 in its 2023 version will be full of new features that will not only improve its autonomy, but also optimize its charging process thanks to automatic battery preconditioning.

With a unique design, generous roominess and breathtaking charging power, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 caused a sensation during our car test. Good news: the 2023 version of this electric car will make it even more interesting in view of the improvements expected and presented by InsideEVs.
Let’s get straight to the heart of the matter. This electric SUV is now available in two battery configurations: one of 58 kWh in propulsion, the other of 73 kWh in full version (218 or 306 hp). The latter will go upmarket with an accumulator with more energy capacity: 77.4 kWh, the same as the Kia EV6, which shares the same platform.
Consequences: this gain of 6.6% should logically improve the autonomy of the vehicle by a few kilometres, which oscillated as a reminder between 430 and 460 kilometers depending on the type of rims. The Ioniq 5 could therefore come close to the symbolic bar of 500 kilometers thanks to the new battery. The Ioniq 5 in 58 kWh does not undergo any change.
Another novelty, and not least, the automatic preconditioning of the battery before a fast charge. As a reminder, its 800-volt architecture (like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT) makes it eligible for phenomenal charging powers of 220 kW, allowing it to climb from 10 to 80% in the space of 18 minutes. .
This preconditioning is activated when the user enters a charging station in his navigation system. This process then provides optimal charging conditions to exploit the full potential of the system, and is extremely practical in winter when temperatures are low.
Orders in spring 2022
As standard, the Ioniq 5 will also integrate smarter rear suspensions which will offer better handling and improved driving comfort, we can read. As an option, Hyundai plans to add digital mirrors (side and central), without their price having been revealed for the moment.
This Ioniq 5 in the 2023 version will be available to order in Europe from the spring of 2022. It is not known whether the Korean manufacturer will modify the price list of its vehicle, which still offers significant improvements. There would be absolutely nothing shocking in this SUV being more expensive.
