Complexion makeup: these makeup mistakes that age the face

  • Do not use blush : “It gives a very flat side, without relief and it tires the face a lot.”. This is all the more convincing if you are used to applying foundation and concealer. These products are very effective in unifying and correcting the complexion, but they also “erase” its reliefs. To give a healthy glow and brighten the complexion, opt for slightly satiny blushes and choose it according to your skin tone.
  • Applying too much highlighter to the nose : “I’m not a fan of using highlighter on the nose, but if you do, do it sparingly” advises the makeup artist. This can give a very “superficial” look to the complexion and also highlight small irregularities in the skin. Prefer to apply the highlighter in small touches, on the top of the cheekbones or on the Cupid’s bow for example. Opt for creamy or very slightly satiny liquid textures, which blend easily into the skin without marking wrinkles.

Eye makeup: these little details that tire the eyes and mark fine lines

  • Do not intensify the roots of the eyelashes when applying iridescent eye shadow : “Iridescent, satin and glittery eyeshadows tend to accentuate wrinkles a little more.”. They can also tire and dull the look if you don’t remember to intensify the roots of the eyelashes with a pencil, eyeliner or darker eyeshadow. Also remember to work on your eyelash fringe with a thick mascara to lift and widen your eyes.
  • Too much powder around the eyes : “The more you powder, the more it will dull, the more it will mark, the more it will age.” explains the makeup artist. If you want to set your concealer, use a very fine powder (a loose powder or a powder specially designed for the eye contour area) adapted to the color of your skin to avoid dulling your complexion.
  • The beige monochrome : We talk about monochrome makeup when we apply the same color to the eyes, cheeks and lips, often to create a nude effect. “It gives something very flat and it doesn’t add any shine. On the lips, beige can give a cadaverous look”. If you are a fan of nude, choose shades that have slightly pink or peachy undertones.
