“I am angry”: Line Renaud, in tears, her heartfelt cry to Emmanuel Macron on euthanasia

Thursday December 14, Francoise Hardywho is still fighting her cancer and who suffers more and more, gave a written interview to BFMTV, to once again demand that the government authorize euthanasia. Favorable to the end of assisted life, the singer, whose state of health is increasingly fragile, is joined by Line Renaud. Interviewed remotely by LCI this Friday, the 95-year-old singer and actress uttered a rant to ask, too, that people whose pain is daily and wish to go away, to be able to do so with dignity.

Evoking the government bill concerning euthanasia, which should be presented to the Council of Ministers in February 2024, Line Renaud explained that she already has “spoke to the deputies” by ensuring that the President of the Republic “should release it now”. “For Françoise, it seems to be too late”, she regretted, making a heartfelt appeal to Emmanuel Macron to move things forward as quickly as possible. “Seventy-four deputies agreed for this law when I went to talk to them about it! They all agreed so why wait? I feel bad for Françoise… I’m angry”, lamented the actress with great emotion.

An actress who has twice witnessed human suffering

And if Line Renaud is so affected by knowing Jacques Dutronc’s ex-wife is suffering enormously and asking to leave as quickly as possible, it is notably because his own mother also had to endure pain “atrocious”, as she explained to Parisian in June. She would then have liked to shorten her life, just like her late husband, Loulou Gastéwho also agonized for a long time before a heart attack took her life, in 1995. The current debate on euthanasia therefore made her relive these two very complicated end-of-life events that she witnessed. “[Pour] Loulou, there was nothing we could do. We had to wait and wait… We knew he was going to die but he was suffering…”, she detailed, indicating that her requests were answered in the negative to help her put an end to it. “And this is what is happening with Françoise! We must let her go if she asks and if science says that it is time, that there is nothing more to be done for her”, she added, with a sinking heart.
