“I can eat it twice a day”: Jordan Bardella, this dish he thrives on

A few days before the European elections, MP Jordan Bardella is announced at the top of the polls in France. The one who carries the National Rally list is announced at 33% of voting intentions by Ipsos. On this occasion, let’s return to the dish that the 28-year-old politician loves. Last summer, Marine Le Pen’s protégé spoke about his favorite dish in the columns of Paris Match : pasta. His parents of Italian origin passed on to him a taste for pasta. It is “a form of irrational addiction”, explained the president of the RN, recognizing that he could “eat it twice a day.”

Jordan Bardella’s favorite dish is specific: bucatini all’amatriciana, a tangy tomato sauce, originally from the small town of Amatrice. “In my house, Barilla sauce is forbidden. Same for gruyere or cutting your spaghetti”, he told the journalists he was entertaining in an Italian restaurant in the 16th arrondissement of Paris where he is a regular. From his mother, his grandmother, but also his uncle who runs a restaurant near Turin, the MEP learned to cook lasagna, Bolognese and even osso-buco. “Italian cuisine is popular par excellence. Carbonara or amatriciana were, initially, workers’ meals. It’s a kitchen that needs few elements, it’s all about cooking time. One second too long and it’s over”, explained Jordan Bardella to Paris Match.

Jordan Bardella irritated by a pun from Manon Aubry

This Tuesday, June 4, France 2 broadcast the last debate between the heads of the list in the European elections. The candidates had come to present their program, but also to criticize their opponents… Jordan Bardella, in particular, protested against a play on words that he hardly appreciates. Manon Aubry tackled Jordan Bardella, telling him: “His votes speak for themselves in the European Parliament – when he is there, since, as you know, he was nicknamed ‘Bard-is-not-there’”, recalling that in the space of five years, the MEP has tabled very few amendments compared to many other MEPs. Jordan Bardella reacted strongly: “I have a lot of respect for you, please, I ask you to do the same, and leave my last name where it is.
