Collapsed buildings, mobilized help and thousands of dead and wounded emerged from the rubble. More than 24 hours after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck southern Turkey, which also caused significant damage and thousands of deaths in northern Syria, the emergency services remain actively mobilized to save the most possible life. But thousands of kilometers from the disaster, concern reigns within the French fake diaspora.
“That saddens me”
Sitting on a chair in a Parisian restaurant, his eyes riveted on a TV hanging on the wall, Hassan is waiting for news from his family, phone in hand. “I tried to call several times but I didn’t get an answer from them”, he explains at the microphone of Europe 1. “All I know for the moment is that we have a lot of houses that have been destroyed” in the area. “There is a lot of damage”, continues the young man.
In the room, the Turkish news channel NTV is looping on the initiative of the boss. “I spontaneously put this channel on to follow the evolution of the situation, but I sometimes change, because it saddens me”, underlines the latter. Right next to him, Talip has just hung up with his family living in Gaziantep, a town close to the epicenter of the earthquake.
Massive donations
“They are afraid, it’s a bit of a panic” on the spot, assures the man, specifying that his relatives had been placed in safety, in a gymnasium. And if France already sends 139 rescuers on the spot, the fake community also wants to mobilize by “sending shirts, jackets, because there is a lot of snow”, specifies Hassan.
“Of course, we will also send some money,” adds the restaurant owner. These donations should be sent in the next few days, to help local populations cope with the disaster as quickly as possible.
