Now a world-renowned star, Robert Pattinson began his Hollywood career playing Cedric Diggory in the “Harry Potter” saga. A character he hated, from what he said a few years ago.
Known throughout the world since he played the young Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga, Robert Pattinson has built an eclectic career over the years, where auteur films such as The Lighthouse or Cosmopolis coexist with more ambitious blockbusters such as Tenet by Christopher Nolan or the recent The Batman.
But nearly 20 years ago, it was in the fourth installment of the famous Harry Potter saga that the face of the young British actor was first revealed to the world. In The Goblet of Fire, Pattinson played Hufflepuff champion Cedric Diggory, a particularly popular Hogwarts student who unfortunately met a tragic end when he crossed paths with Voldemort.

Even if this first role undoubtedly allowed the actor to build a solid foundation in Hollywood, Pattinson confided a few years later that he did not support his character:
“I hate it”had he thus released in Robert Pattinson: The Unauthorized Biographya book signed by Virginia Blackburn in 2009.
“At school, I hated everyone who looked like Cedric. I was never a leader, and the idea of me becoming a delegate would have been a total joke. I was not very involved in school , and I was never picked on any team.”

As he also explained between the pages of his biography, it was in particular the seductive side of Cedric that was complicated for the actor to assume:
“It’s quite difficult. In the book, and also in the presentation that is made of my character in the script, he is described as an incredibly attractive 17-year-old young man, and that tends to disturb you a little when you try to play and that you also have to try to find the right angles to look good.”
“That’s really stupid. You might think I’m really self-centered. But I think that was the most intimidating part, it was a lot scarier than meeting Lord Voldemort.”
