On February 1, 2023, in the program “It starts today”, Agathe Natanson, the widow of Jean-Pierre Marielle, spoke of the disappearance of her husband. “He is with me all the time, but not the public man, the private man” she started facing the host Faustine Bollaert. Disappeared in April 2019, the actor left a great void in his life. According to him, Jean-Pierre Marielle was a man “full of fantasy, unpredictable and who could be very dark.” “We were never bored (…) It was divine. I don’t like routine and there was none there. I miss him, I miss the life we had. She was always unexpected” she confided.
With emotion, Agathe Natanson then clarified that she missed her husband the most “on waking” and when she returns home. As an anecdote, she even recounted those times when, in order not to go home, she bought hot soup and ate it on a bench. “It’s sad to live without him. I didn’t die when he died. I am amputated. JI have one leg and one arm missing, it just doesn’t show. I will be amputated until the end of my life.” assured the actress. Moreover, Agathe Natanson has never made her mourning. “I’ve never grieved. It’s been 4 years. I haven’t grieved and I won’t. I will always connect with him.” she let know.
“He had hallucinations”: the wife of Jean-Pierre Marielle, looks back on the violence of his illness
During her interview, Agathe Natanson also revealed how Jean-Pierre Marielle’s illness made him violent. “He had a form of violence. This illness can have different forms (…) He could be violent because he had sorts of insinuations, things he didn’t understand… For example, he could say ‘Hello sir'” said the widow. According to him, Jean-Pierre Marielle, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, changed a lot because of it. “It was serious to see that it was irreversible and that we would never meet again.” she added.
Very ill, Jean-Pierre Marielle could not stay at home. He was therefore placed in a nursing home. “I had no choice. My idea was to keep him at home all the time. Besides Jean-Pierre, I didn’t see him leaving (…) I could see that he was a man who had a serious but not fatal illness. When he left I was completely taken aback.” concluded Agathe Natanson.
