Thierry Ardisson granted an interview to Franck Nicolas on Youtube. The host notably confided in his past addictions and his suicide attempt while he was in a hotel in New York.
An extremely difficult time. For many years, Thierry Ardisson had to deal with many addictions. In the early 1970s, the animator was thus a regular heroin user. To try to fight against his old demons, he then decided to go into exile for three months in the United States, in a place where “he was sure not to find” of heroin. But when he was in the midst of withdrawal, he almost committed the worst.
While he was in a hotel in New York with his first wife, Christiane, Thierry Ardisson attempted suicide. “I wanted to go through the window”, he confided during an interview granted on the Youtube channel of Franck Nicolas. Fortunately, the former presenter of Hi the earthlings was saved by his ex-girlfriend. “I was going up. She was holding me back”he recalled.
Does Thierry Ardisson still use drugs?
Thierry Ardisson finally managed to overcome his addictions, even if his fight was not an easy task: “I got through it, but it’s the hardest thing I’ve done in my life honestly. The hero, at the beginning, we take it to be good, then after a while, we take it to not be bad…”he confided in the show Direct access on France Bluein February 2022.
If Thierry Ardisson is no longer dependent today, he has never hidden the fact that he still sometimes uses hard drugs from time to time. In August 2018, in the columns of Society magazine, he had thus confided : “I’ve been taking ecstasy – halves – very occasionally for three years and I think it’s great, like dope. You hug everyone! Just because you’re old doesn’t mean you have to stop taking drugs.Finally, he added:I’ve been smoking since I was 17. (…) Four or five firecrackers a day. It gives life a little more charm. Pot, never weed. It’s been over 50 years and I’m proud of it.“
