Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time, now the legendary quarterback is trying his hand at football: Brady is joining the English second division club Birmingham City as a shareholder – and should also be involved operationally.

American football icon Tom Brady has secured a stake in English second division soccer team Birmingham City. The club informed about the investment. Seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady will chair a new advisory board and will work directly with the club’s board and members of the executive team, a statement said. The 46-year-old is said to “use his extensive managerial experience and expertise in various areas of the club”.

Brady has partnered with US investment firm Knighthead Capital Management, the majority owner of Birmingham City. He is now co-owner of the club. “I’ve been part of some great teams in my time and look forward to bringing my perspective to the table to achieve the same success here in Birmingham,” said Brady.

For the club, it is primarily about global marketing measures and new opportunities for commercial partnerships. Former quarterback Brady, who only ended his active career in the American professional league NFL at the beginning of February, is supposed to help with his network. Birmingham last played in the Premier League in 2011 and were then unable to advance to the top English league due to financial difficulties.

Brady announced in May that he wanted to become a minority owner of the NFL team Las Vegas Raiders. The professional football league has yet to approve the deal. Brady has also been a minority owner of the Las Vegas Aces, champion of the WNBA women’s basketball league, since March.
