Antoine de Maximy offers himself a new journey. This Friday, October 28, viewers will discover a new episode of I will go to sleep at your place on the other side of the world. For this one, the animator-adventurer flew to Kazakhstan to meet the inhabitants and customs of the country. There, he was able to discover an ancestral tradition that turned his stomach: the Bouzkachi. This sport, originating in Afghanistan, is very popular in the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East. Its principle is very violent since the two teams which face each other on horseback must seize a heavy carcass of goat or calf to place it in the “circle of justice” traced in whitewash.
Impressed by the Bouzkachi practitioners met in Kazakhstan, Antoine de Maximy witnessed a particularly violent scene since at the end of a game, the men killed, in front of his eyes, a goat. “I think it’s going to go badly for him. Well, I’m filming but we’re not going to show it to you. We’re not used to it… We have to respect the traditions of the country”, explains the host, who preferred not to show his images to viewers. In this episode of I will go to sleep with you, viewers will therefore follow the peregrinations of the host in this country which measures five times the size of France.
Antoine de Maximy upset in the middle of filming
On site, Antoine de Maximy’s journey begins in Nour-Soultan, the capital, resolutely very modern to his great astonishment.. After admiring national traditions in the southern mountains, the host left for the city of Shymkent, where he was invited to a traditional birthday. In a small village in the steppe, Antoine de Maximy will let himself be won over by emotion. The reason ? He will realize that technology has invaded the world when a man offers him to translate their conversation using his mobile phone. “When I started to travel, we did not send news for several months to the familyhe confided in front of the camera. (…) We were cut off from everything. (…) There, a barrier has just fallen. We can talk to everyone, it will be easier and easier.”
