IAEA says Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is Ukrainian (Grossi)

KYIV, Oct 6 (Reuters) – The International Atomic Energy Agency considers the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to be a Ukrainian facility, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said on Thursday.

Russia seized the plant in March shortly after the start of its invasion of Ukraine, while leaving the operation of the site to its Ukrainian personnel. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday ordered by decree to transfer control of the plant to Russian authorities and make it “federal property”.
