Waga Energy: start-up of a unit in the Ardennes

(CercleFinance.com) – Waga Energy announces that it started on April 26, with the local semi-public company Arcavi, a production unit on the Ardennes waste recovery and elimination facility (IVEDA) in Éteignières, in the Ardennes.

This unit uses its Wagabox technology to produce biomethane from gas spontaneously emitted by waste buried on the site. This green gas is injected directly into the GRDF network to supply the municipalities of Rocroi and Bourg Fidèle.

The Wagabox unit can process up to 600 m3/h of gas and produce approximately 25 GWh of biomethane per year, depending on the concentration of methane in the raw gas. It currently replaces one of the two cogeneration engines installed on the site.

From next year, after the shutdown of the second engine, it will process all of the available gas. It will then be able to supply more than 2,500 homes, thus avoiding the emission of around 3,000 tonnes of CO2 eq per year into the atmosphere.

‘Its commissioning will significantly increase the site’s energy efficiency and provide local and renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, particularly in transport, industry and district heating’, underlines Waga Energy.
