ID.7 Tourer: soon an electric station wagon at Volkswagen

2

Volkswagen has registered the name “ID.7 Tourer”, which seems to correspond to an electric station wagon derived from the ID. Space Vizzion expected in 2024. This concept presented in 2019 promised a range of 590 km.

If you are looking for an electric station wagon, you currently have the choice between the MG5, which sells for just over €30,000, and the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo or Cross Turismo, whose prices start at around €90,000 and can reach heights.

Fortunately, this market should gradually expand, with the arrival at Volkswagen of an electric station wagon which should be inserted between the too few representatives of the segment.

Thus, our colleagues from CarBuzz noticed that the German brand had registered this June 17 in Europe the name “ID.7 Tourer”, after having already secured the use of the names from “ID.1” to “ID.9”. Which obviously does not mean that everyone will be exploited…

However, everything leads us to believe that the ID.7 Tourer will be none other than the production version of the ID concept. Space Vizzion. Presented in 2019, it was to give birth to Volkswagen’s first electric station wagon, initially planned for 2021. Its size should be comparable to that of the station wagon version of a Passat or an Arteon.

A sedan in 2023 and a station wagon in 2024?

This new member of the ID family. has however been delayed and could only arrive in dealerships in 2024. A sedan version, probably called ID.7, and hitherto known as Aero B, should also be offered and could be presented as early as 2023.

The ID concept. Space Vizzion announced a WLTP range of 590 km, thanks to an 82 kWh battery (total capacity) and a drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.24.

Such autonomy has every chance of being achieved and could even be surpassed. Indeed, Volkswagen recently announced modifications to its MEB platform that could benefit the ID.7, and which would allow it to reach a maximum range of 700 km.
