Although directly derived from the MusicCast 20 and MusicCast 50, this new Yamaha speaker does not have much to do with its predecessors. Its refined format and its design far from the standards of the genre are more reminiscent of a micro hi-fi system or a stereo amplifier than a wireless speaker. At the same time, with an LCD screen on the front and a CD player, confusion is allowed.
In addition to its living room stereo amp look, the Yamaha MusicCast 200 includes everything you need to play your music, whatever the medium. Thus, it can obviously read all your discography but also the titles stored in the local network or via web radios or streaming platforms like Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz or Deezer. To play the titles stored on a telephone, the Bluetooth connection and Apple AirPlay 2 remain essential. In addition, a more classic USB port and a mini-jack socket complete the equipment alongside the FM antenna.
Resolutely modern, it incorporates a touch control panel on the upper part as well as a Qi wireless charger to power a compatible smartphone. Finally, the MusicCast 200 incorporates two 80mm stereo speakers and two 25mm tweeters backed by Yamaha craftsmanship to fill a room with their favorite music.
This new MusicCast 200, at the crossroads between a micro-system and a wireless speaker, is available in black or white, depending on preference. To get it, it will take 719 €, a price that reflects its rather high-end positioning.
